Boomboxes...

Beat Swapmeet isn't only known for records.  We also have boom box collectors that bring heat to the shows.  You probably seen the stacks of Lasonics that Bobby Quevedo brings...as well as the boombox with the turntable that Renato has been spotted with.  Check this out:

45's & 12's from DJ Endo

Channel Live "Mad-izm" 12-inch

Rob-o "Mention me" 12-inch

Naughty By Nature "O.P.P." 45

Arrested Development "Tennesee" 45

Arrested Development "Ease My Mind" 45

Lately, I've just been trying to get my hip hop 45 game up.  My man Endo is coming solid with it.  Check out his ebay auctions.

Tell him your boy Buttonpusha sent ya...

Random Finds #1

My favorite places to dig are right around the corner! You never know what you'll find and they are dirt cheap. Some places even sell records for 50 cents or 45's for 25 cents.. How can you go wrong?

Another set of random records I found for a buck each at a thrift store. Here they are (clockwise):

1. Rodney Franklin- You'll Never Know (1980, CBS/ Columbia)
Piano led jazz/ funk album that could hang with all the greats (Donald, Lonnie, Grover, Freddie, Roy, etc.) The whole thing is good, but I would say highlight tracks for me are "Felix Leo" and "You'll Never Know".

2. Cheech and Chong (1971, Ode)
Hilarious classic first album... "bad ass weed....." Doesn't need much convincing here.

3. Al Caiola- Music from the Godfather (1972, RCA)
I'm always looking for other versions of the Godfather themes. Al Caiola's version of the famous soundtrack, this time with guitars and more drums. If you're a Godfather fan, this one's for you.

4. Arcadia High School- Apache Marching Band (1975)
I've heard of people who collect high school band LP's. Here are two examples of why you should think twice about passing these records up:

-New compilation "School Me! Vol. One 1968-1975" is a selection of amazing jazz, funk and psych sounds found on locally pressed and sold LP's. Listen to samples and purchase here.

-Here's a video I found of a recent high school band performing one of my all time favorite songs Blue Magic's Sideshow.

Just found this on the net..

Every now and then I like to Google Beat Swap Meet just to see what random new stuff comes up. Wellll, tonight I found this vlog (video blog) posted by "Culture King". Footage from our last Beat Swap Meet - A peak into J-Rocc's suprise set, everything he spun was for sale (like many of our DJ's at BSM). Big thanks to Culture King for stopping by and supporting the cause!
